It's your girls Tia and Christina, back at again with our food adventures from February. This month Tia and I decided to go to Papa Cristo's restaurant out in LA.
T: I've been wanting to go to this restaurant for a year now. I love anything Greek because I really want to go to Greece and enjoy the beautiful ocean side view and of course enjoy their great food. But since I live in LA which isn't necessary Greece but they do have real authentic Greek food so why not Papa Cristo's.
It was really busy part of LA but it was worth the traffic and plus they had their own parking lot and free valet parking, say whaaaat?!
We enter thru the back of restaurant , it was really gorgeous. Full of lights and greenery. We also saw beautiful memorials inside! :3
C: We went to Papa's Cristo on Ash Wednesday and because I'm Catholic, I decided it wasn't the best idea to eat meat that day so I was happy to see they had a vegetarian menu.
It was awesome to see them have things to enjoy for Lent and they all looked delicious! I decided to get the Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) and Falafel Gyro!!! <3333
T: I decided to get a Beef and Lamb Gryo! <3
They told us to wait at the dining room and they will serve us and I was fell in love once again. It was big dining room filled with pictures of Greece pictures and paintings.
Oh, by the way We invited our great friend, Theresa to come and enjoy our food adventures together.
While we waiting for our delicious food to come out , we start enjoying our drinks.
C: My favorite drink on this planet happens to be root beer, so when I saw that they had their own I just couldn't pass up the opportunity. I must say this was my greatest decision of life since this is my favorite root beer from now on. If you love root beer, this is a must. A MUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
T: I had the Mango Juice and it was just amazing.
So after waiting for 15 mins, the food finally came!!! :D
Beef and Lamb Gyro $8.99
Chicken Kebab Dinner Plate $19.99
Fafalel Gyro $7.99
Grubbing time!
C: I loved everything about the falafel, it was not too dry nor too crunchy, it was perfect. It almost felt as though I was still eating meat. Plus the sauce they gave with it, was refreshingly delightful. It was a perfectly seasoned experience that ended too quickly.
T: As you can I see I was just grubbing away. This is my second time ever enjoying a Gyro but this is the first eating one over at Papa's Cristo! It was so flavorful, The lamb and beef was perfectly seasoned!!! The pita was slighty warm and so soft. Even the lettuce and tomatoes was even delicious! Everything about this gyro was just perfect and It was more better than imagined. I waited for a year for this moment and it was just amazing.
Theresa: So I had ordered the chicken kabob plate. I've never had a kabob, but I've always like the thought of it. Food on a stick. Gotta love it! In my opinion the food was a little pricey. But I knew that when ordering.
The plate came with two kabobs with perfectly seasoned chicken, green peppers and onion. A side of delicious potatoes. It was a flavor of potatoes I haven't had before but it went quite nicely with the kabob. A side of Greek salad which I'm sure would have tasted great but I'm not a huge salad person. The plate also came with a side of pita bread. I eventually ended up putting the rest of the food in the bread like a wrap. Which made it even more delicious. I left this place with a full and satisfied tummy. I give it a 4.5 stars!
It was truly amazing, it was like a sour cream and cucumber sauce,
C: I don't even like sour cream like that but it was awesome!
So many awards and reccomendations about this place! This place is awesome!
Oh yeah this....
We ordered this grapeleaves dish and it was quite,....different. It was really cold and we weren't digging at all. It had a weird cold minty taste.
T: It's just not my cup of tea... :/
C: I tried grapeleaves in the past and they were an acquired taste but not bad, these weren't too different. They were a little colder than I would have liked, and the mint flavor in them was a little strong, but overall I feel it they were a little more thawed they would have been tastier minus the mint. :D
Here is another menu so if you guys are curious about what they have to offer and the prices!
So many choices and for great prices, Can it get better?! oh yaaas, it does it does get better! they also have a bakery and store within the restaurant so we had to check it out!
C: The baked goods I bought were delicious, I had bought them for my family fully intending for them to have some, however they snooze they loose - and I rather enjoyed the sweetness of all of them. The Baklava was at the perfect consistency of sweetness, and the cookies were delightful.
T: And then the best moment of my life happened. I finally met the owner of Papa Cristo's. I've been seeing pictures of people taking pictures with him everytime I looked up his resturant and it was definetly one of those OMG moments of this year. What a beautiful way to start the new years!!! :D I was flabbergausted and nervous but i asked for a picture and yeaah the rest is history. I was so happy as you can see!!! He told me "We were awesome" *tears of joy*
HAPPY TEARS!!!
OVERALL: Papa Cristo's was a delicious taste of Greece. I loved everything from the decor, the friendly vibe, and of course the food. It may take me awhile before I visit Greece but I'll definetly think I found my lil Greece in LA. I would definetly give this restaurant 5 stars!!!!
Love, Christina & Tia
